Methods to Manage Emotion: Integrating DBT Concepts into Schema Therapy
October 1st (2024) Start
15 Hours of Active CPD
Schema Therapy is an evidence-based treatment for Personality Disorders and ‘hard-to-treat presentations and problems. Initially derived from cognitive behavioural therapy, schema therapy incorporates and emphasises several affect change techniques, such as imagery rescripting and chairwork, and the concept of Limited Reparenting, in addition to cognitive and behavioural approaches to create change. Although Limited Reparenting, Imagery Rescripting and other methods are crucial for emotional change and can also help individuals regulate, many individuals often need additional emotional regulation skills not traditionally taught in Schema Therapy.
In this course, you will be taught several skills from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), an alternative-evidence based treatment for borderline personality disorder and other disorders of emotional dysregulation, in addition to other therapeutic techniques for helping to regulate emotions and ideas on how to integrate these skills into a Schema therapy approach. Training will include short “bite-sized” webinars, skills videos, reading material, and live consultation and Q&A with Chris, the presenter. To get the most out of this workshop, attendees should already have a working knowledge of Schema Therapy and have attended some prior Schema Therapy training.
